Mountain Taxi

I have been lucky enough to make my way to Iceland several times over the past several years, each time I’ve travelled through the country’s hard to reach highlands and stunning coastlines with Mountain Taxi. Kristjan and his team pay attention to even the most minor of details and are instrumental to us in creating highly customized and memorable tours for our travellers. Most importantly Kristjan and his guides have an intense understanding of their country, its people and places. This isn’t just a jeep tour through Iceland, it’s a tour with exceptionally knowledgeable guides who leave you at the end of your trip getting “it” – that being Iceland, and promising to come back.

I and three female friends, all in our sixties, have just completed a third trip with Kristján in his Mountain Taxi. Each time, with minimum prompting, Kristján has produced an itinerary which has been sensitive to our wishes and needs, and ensured that each individual gets the most out of the experience. He enhances the journeys with information on the geology and natural history of Iceland and occasionally with Icelandic music appropriate to the landscape. Kristján’s manner is easy and reassuring. He has tremendous professionalism, knowledge and enthusiasm, and excellent inter-personal skills. I always feel safe and in good hands and would not consider travelling in Iceland with anyone else. We are already planning our next trip!

Our first tour with Mountain Taxi was 10 years ago with a group of friends – it was an amazing trip. Since then we have traveled to Iceland numerous times – once, twice and sometimes three times a year – always with Mountain Taxi. Every trip we take we rediscover our love for this amazing country, it’s people and the unbelievable sites and adventures we’ve been on (from blizzards on the glaciers, fishing, ice caves, hiking and more). It is never enough! We long to see and feel more and to do it with Kristjan, Bjork and Steini, who have become our dearest friends! We’ve traveled to the North Pole and South Pole, to Greenland, Svalbard, Arctic Canada and Antarctica but nowhere do we feel like we feel in Iceland.
